Biafra Separatists group, suspected to be the Black Marine has reportedly brought down a Cameroonian Military Helicopter in Bakassi Peninsula.
Sources close to the Black Marine said that the Helicopter reportedly crashed after separatist militants on Thursday, August 22, fired several explosives targeting the helicopter.
It was gathered that the military aircraft was said to have been shot down as it combed Abana, Bakassi Peninsula to dislodge separatists who had seized control of Abana waterfront since five days.
Eyewitness account alleged that two sounds of bomb explosion were heard as the Helicopter quickly diverted into the swamp forest area with much smoke pouring out and it is not clear where the aircraft crashed.
The Operational Coordinator of Biafra Nations League (BnL), Henry Edet confirmed the incident and declined to make any comment.
However, Pillar Today could not confirm the veracity of this incident from the Cameroon authorities.
