The people of Obubra Local Government Area (LGA) of Cross River State have declared that the numerous awards conferred on the State Governor, Senator Bassey Otu are not ordinary but by divine direction.
The Executive Chairman of Obubra LGA, Hon. Kingsley Arikpo, said this in a message of felicitation on behalf of the Obubra people to Governor Otu on his conferment of meritorious award of Honorary Degree by the famous University of Calabar, on him during the 37th convocation ceremony which marks the 50th anniversary of the institution.
He said, “I indeed, the choice of the University to honour you with this great award, depicts the idiomatic selection of the oranges from the peas.
“As a leader of impeccable pedigree, with a signature profile of reference, you have a trajectory of meritorious honour and awards as I recall that the most recent Leadership Award conferred on you was not initiated by chance but by divine direction”.
The Council Chairman recalled how the governor’s Kinsmen turned the 2025 New year celebration to a coronation ceremony, when he was conferred with the highest traditional title of the land in Adiabo, Odukpani LGA, by the traditional Rulers Council of the Efik Kingdom, saying this was a special recognition even by the traditional institution.
Therefore, Arikpo said, “Your recent episcopal installation as an Apostle of Christ came by dint of divine Providence and we are proud to have you as our Leader and Governor extraordinary.
“Today as you fly the banner of honour from the world renowned academic citadel, we join your well wishes globally to celebrate you for this great feat”.
