The Chairman of Afikpo Local Government Area (LGA) in Ebonyi State, Hon. Timothy Nwachi was super excited to suspend council activities to join his kindred who rolled out carpet to celebrate Ms. Lilian Ude, Nigeria’s U19 female cricket player.
The event took place last Saturday at Government Secondary School, Afikpo, Ebonyi State.
“I am highly delighted, on behalf of Afikpo North LGA, and of course, the leader of our State, Rt. Hon. Builder Francis Ogbonna.

“It has been in our minds to ensure the development of cricket is established firmly in Ebonyi State. Let me seize this opportunity to let you know that, Her Excellency, the Deputy Governor of Ebonyi, Patricia Obila, is in full support of what is going on this evening.”
The Deputy Governor, Obila, shared her support to Lilian Ude’s development as well as two Commissioners of Afikpo extraction who attended the events alongside many other dignitaries.
The Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Prof. Amari Omaka, and the Commissioner for Market Development and Parks, Prof. Nwogo Obasi were both excited for Lilian Ude’s brilliance in cricket.
Lilian Ude was a member of the Nigeria Cricket U19 women’s cricket team that shook the world when Nigeria defeated New Zealand and Ireland in ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup in Malaysia.
Nigeria Cricket Federation Board Members representing South East, Surveyor Chika Okoro, and coordinator of the welcome ceremony led the LGA Chairman and his Deputy, Hon. Mrs. Josephine Nwogo to bowl off the 6th edition of NCF/PwC National U17 Championship in Government Secondary School, Afikpo, Ebonyi State.
