Sensitization for the creation of Ogoja state out of present Cross River has commenced in earnest.
The sensitization programme is being organized by “The Movement for the Creation of Ogoja State” and on February 17, the movement met with the State Governor, Senator Bassey Otu to brief him of its activities.
As part of the campaign, the Movement is inviting the general public and indigenes of Ogoja in Calabar and it’s environs to a three day orientation programme towards the creation of Ogoja State.
A statement jointly signed by the Convener, PaPa Dorn Cklaimz Enamhe, the Co-convener Mr Johnny Agim (SAN) as well as stakeholders across the state, said the sensitization programme, will start on February 18, 2025 at the Pyramid Hotel Calabar. Time: 11 am.
The Lead Speaker is Prof Francis Mogu of the, and he University of Calabar will speak on ‘History and Development of Ogoja State to its Actualization’.
The Chairman of the occasion will be Ukani Dave Ashang OON (Former SSG CRS and Former DG NDLEA)
Other Speakers are, Col. PAM Ogar (former Governor Kwara Stare ), Ambassador Obi Odu Justice Maurice Eneji (rtd ) Chief Judge of the state, CP lawrence Alobi Esq (Rtd), Hon Chief Lawrence Mbina, Johnny Agim SAN, Hon Cletus Obun, Rt Hon Chief Mathew Ojugbo,?Dame Comfort Otere, and Prof Joseph A Ushie.
They called on concerned parties to turn out enmasse as the meeting is crucial and critical to the achievement of the long desired Ogoja state.
It is on record that Ogoja is the only province left in the country that has not gotten a state created from it.
