A new Commissioner of Police (CP) has been posted to Cross River State Command. He is CP Olusegun Eyitayo Omosanyin, hails from Ondo State but raised in Oyo State.
A statement dated March 28, by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Irene Ugbo, said, CP Olusegun Eyitayo took over from CP Gyogon Augustine Grimah, who is now promoted to the rank of Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG), Zone 10 Headquarters, Sokoto State.
The new CP who was enlisted in the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) on May 18, 1992, obtained his first degree (B. Ed. Honors) in Physical & health Education, from the University of Ibadan in 1987 and further, went to the Ahmadu Bello University Zaria, where he obtained a Master‘s Degree in law Enforcement and Criminal Justice in 2008 and Master Degree in Security and Strategic Studies from National Defence Academy Kaduna, in 2024, CP Olusegun Eyitayo Omosanyin is a fellow of the National Defence College, Abuja Course 32.
Furthermore, the statement said the new CP has held various postings and positions; as he attended professional courses within and outside the country.
Before his redeployment to Cross River State Command, he was the Force Provost Marshal, Force Headquarters, Abuja.
The Commissioner has assumed duty and consequently called on Cross Riverians and residents “to continue to support the Police and other sister security agencies in law enforcement and maintenance of Public Order in our dear state”.
Meanwhile, Areas Commanders, Divisional Police Officers (DPOS) and Tactical Commanders are directed to ensure the safety and security of members of the public.
The statement further stated that, “the Police Command will not fold its hands and watch any person, or group of persons, or any unauthorized procession across the state under whatever guise to obstruct or cause breakdown of law and order.
“However, the Command has concluded strategic plans to clampdown on all disgruntled elements/haters of peace in our society. The CP therefore solicits for corroborative partnership for effective/efficient service delivery in line with best practices”.
