Cross River State Government has joined her voice in condemning the continued persecution of responsible Journalists by repressive governments around the globe.
The State’s Commissioner for Information, Mr. Erasmus Ekpang in statement on Friday to mark the World Press Freedom Day 2024 said, some of these persecution lead to imprisonment and death of genuine Media Practitioners and call for total restraint.
He said the “government shall continue to fight all enemies of a free press society that promotes discrimination and crimes against Journalists in the course of performing their legitimate duties, with negligible attention paid to the punishment of offenders over these years.

Once again, he said the state government congratulates all Journalists on this special World Press Freedom Day 2024 with a renewed hope that the season of sweetness shall add greater value to this symbiotic relationship.
