In it avowed aim to eradicate diseases amongst children in Cross River State, the State Primary Health Care Development Agency (CRSPHDA) in collaboration with the ministry of health and their partners on Tuesday in Calabar flagged off big catch up routine immunization programme.
The state is partnering with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), World Health Organization (WHO) the Break Through Action and the National Primary Healthcare Development Agency that were also present at the Flagg off.
Flagging off the Six day event in Calabar, the Director General, CRSPHDA, Dr Vivian Mesembe Otu, said this was necessary so as to ensure that children who were not immunized before have the opportunity to do so against any form of disease.
She stressed that the big catch up is in three Local Government Areas of the state which include, Calabar Municipality, Akpabuyo and Ikom LGAs, stating that the reason for the three LGAs is because data available shows that immunization statistics in these LGAs are low, hence the need for the routine immunization intensification
“This is an opportunity for us to catch up with those who were not immunized before and for the mothers to get their children immunized against any form of diseases”.
“We have to combat and prevent every diseases, that is why we are doing everything to ensure that every child in the state is vaccinated” she maintained
Dr Otu then called on mothers in the affected local government areas to take advantage of the window and bring their children out for the immunization.
Meanwhile Archbishop Emmah Isong of Christian Central Chapel International (CCCI) a.ka. City of Testimonies Ikot Ene Obong, 8miles Calabar during the Passover Night and the first morning dew of the year, released some prophecies for the year 2025.
The renowned man of God prophesied that ““Breast feeding mothers, start celebrating, a federal policy will favour you at this time like Moses’ mother had favour to feed Moses in the house of Pharaoh. Breast feeding mothers, receive the favour of Moses’ mother”.
