The Chairman of Yala Local Government Area (LGA), Dr Fred Okem has expressed shock at the level of decay in the Legislative Chamber building.
Okem who went on an on the spot inspection of the rehabilitation work on the legislative chamber and offices said he was seriously worried with the level of decay on the building and couldn’t sleep throughout the first night he went there.
“I couldn’t sleep on the night of my first visit here to inspect the place because the level of decay was really worrisome”, he said.
The Council boss however gave the assurance that everything will be done to ensure speedy completion of the rehabilitation and furnishing work at the place to ensure that the legislators return to their offices and chambers to make them work effectively for the good of the people.
Okem who also inspected the furniture delivered to the council for installation in offices and executive council chambers, assured his appointees that he would provide a comfortable working environment for them to perform their duties.
He said the era were appointees and council staff hung around the premises under trees owing to lack of office space or functional furniture in offices was over.
“This is the first batch of furniture to be delivered here for installation. My ambition is to ensure that every one in the executive and legislative arm is comfortable while doing his job so that we can effectively deliver the dividends of democracy to the entire people of Yala”, he said.
