The Federal Road Safety Corp (FRSC), Cross River command and the Nigerian Midstream And Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMPDRA), Calabar Field Office are mulling strategies to tackle menace of road traffic crashes involving Petroleum Tankers and Trucks on the highways.
Thus as part of efforts to realise the FRSC 2025 corporate strategic goals especially in strategic partnership and collaboration, the Sector Commander RS 6.2, Mr. Joseph W Toby on Friday, March 14, received in audience the NMPDRA Field coordinator, Engr. Ibiye Lionel Tuboalabo and his team.
In a release by the Sector Public Education Officer (SPEO), Mr. Samuel Otih made available to some newsmen on Friday, this has become expedient as Engr. Tuboalabo had during the courtesy visit to introduce himself as statutorily required of him, having recently assumed duty in the state and to further boost the already existing synergy between FRSC and the NMPDRA, said the safety of the road is paramount to all road users.
He assured the Sector Commander of his readiness to collaborate with the FRSC especially in “tackling the menace of road traffic crashes involving petroleum tankers and trucks”.
The Sector Commander on his part noted noted that NMPDRA were critical stakeholders in road safety and would continue to strengthen the existing collaboration between both organisations.
To this effect, the Sector Commander called for a meeting between the desk officers of the Safe-to-Load programme of the FRSC and the representatives of the NMPDRA at the tank farms to further explore opportunities for collaboration and enforcement of safety standards both at the depots and on the roads.
Engr. Tuboalabo was accompanied on the visit by Engr. Uchenna Ezenwaka, the head of HSE and Engr. Ama Ifeanyi, the Technical Assistant to the Field Coordinator.
