In a deliberate move to authenticate the soaring wage bill of it’s workforce, Obubra Local Government Executive Committee (EXCO) has approved the conduct of a meticulous personnel audit.
A press release from the Press Secretary of the Council, Mr. Ekong Okpa, said the audit is to be carried out within the first two weeks of April, 2025, through Audit/Staff Verification Committee.
The Executive arm of the Council made the approval during its third session held at the Council Secretariat, Obubra, recently.
Addressing members of the committee after inauguration, the Council Chairman, Hon Kingsley Arikpo, who presided over the session, charged the committee with terms of reference to include establishing the basic staff strength of Obubra Council, authenticate the wage bill, by verifying individual staff qualification,
Arikpo who described his appointees as God- sent, further charged the Committee to expose sharp and corrupt practices as; truancy and absenteeism, urging them to recommend sanctions for defaulting staff.
The Chairman however, admonished members of the Committee to “tread with caution and uphold the virtues of integrity, ensure transparency, accountability and fair play as they discharge their duties with honesty and patriotic zeal”.
The Audit/ Staff Verification Committee, has the Council Secretary, Dr Atan Obeten Egor, as Chairman. While the Head of Local Government Administration, (HOLGA), Mrs Inyang Okon Ikpeme is to serve as Secretary,
Other members include, Head of Personnel (HOP), Mr Innocent Otio, Director of Finance and Supplies, Mrs Florence Egor, Director, General Services and Administration, (DGSA), Mrs Veronica Eyaba.
The Committee also include; all Supervisors in the Local Government Council as well as the Internal Auditor, Mr. Victor Asuquo.
