The Progressive Governors Forum (PGF), has thumbs up the Cross River state governor, Senator Bassey Otu’s visionary governance saying, “it is revitalising the state’s infrastructure and economy”.
The PGF, composed of incumbent governors of States controlled by the All Progressive Congress (APC), described Governor Otu as an excellent example of a leader offering visionary leadership and good governance.
In a press release by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Nsa Gill, the forum spoke through its Director General, Mr Folorunso Aluko, who was one of the resource persons at a two-day strategic meeting held in Calabar recently by Commissioners of Information from all the APC-controlled states.
The gathering which was focused on refining media strategies and communication efforts in APC states, allowed participants to assess the administration of the host state governor.
“There is remarkable progress made in Cross River State under Governor Bassey Otu’s administration”, the participants agreed.
“Governor Otu’s transformative governance has brought significant changes to Cross River State, with developmental projects revitalising the state’s infrastructure and economy”, they added.
According to Aluko, the rehabilitation of crucial roads such as the Effio-Ette Roundabout to Parliamentary Extension through the Technical Roundabout Dual Carriageway, has not only improved traffic flow but also enhanced the visual appeal of Calabar, making it more attractive to both tourists and investors.
Aluko praised the governor’s commitment to infrastructure development, evident in the re-construction of the Yellow Duke culvert, which has successfully mitigated flooding and mishaps in the area, not forgetting the dualisation of the Esuk Utan-NNPC Depot Road, which has eased transportation of petroleum products and boosted economic activities in the area.
“Governor Otu’s administration has also made strides in agriculture and technology. The introduction of the Project Grow Agricultural Programmes aims to harness the state’s agricultural potential and promote sustainable farming practices.
In the realm of technology, re-equipping the Cross River State Broadcasting Corporation with state-of-the-art facilities ensures that residents have access to accurate and timely information,” he added.
Folorunso remarked that one of the most ambitious projects under Governor Otu’s leadership is constructing a 365-kilometre rail line from Calabar to Obudu, which promises to revolutionise transportation in the state.
Speaking further, he noted that the governor’s focus on improving infrastructure and connectivity will drive economic growth and create a vista of opportunities for the people of state.
“Governor Otu’s inclusive approach to governance has earned him widespread support as his administration continues to deliver on its promises of progress and development. As Cross River State looks to the future, there is a strong sense of optimism that under his leadership, the state is on the path to becoming a modern, prosperous, and inclusive society,” he concluded.
Also speaking, Cross River Commissioner for Information, Dr. Erasmus Ekpang, expressed gratitude to the governor for supporting the successful hosting of his colleagues from other states, noting that the meeting was imperative as it provided valuable exchange of ideas.
