Edo State boys again became Champions of the South South Zonal eliminations in the NCF/PwC U17 Championship when they defeated their arch-rivals, Akwa Ibom State by 75 runs.
The South South Zonal elimination was held in Asaba, Delta State.
Princewill Chigozie won Player of the Match Award after taking 4 Akwa Ibom wickets. Chigozie’s biggest hunt was a dreaded batter, Bright Edem, who earlier batted 126 runs against Rivers State.
In the South East Zone, Ebonyi girls have shown dominance over other contenders by winning all games.
Ebonyi girls in earlier fixtures defeated Anambra and Abia State as the look set to tackle Enugu in their last game on Monday.
So far, Abia State players, Ifeanyi Uzoamaka and Angel John have recorded outstanding performances. Uzoamaka batted 30 runs after two games while Angel took 4 wickets in two games.
The South East Zone finals games would be played on Monday at Government Secondary School, Afikpo for both male and female categories.
The South East Zone, NCF Board Member, Surveyor Chika Okoro was physically impressed with the girls’ performance plans, a big reward for the Zonal best performing players.
