Police in Nigeria have arrested ‘Apostle’ Ubong Bassey Etim for the alleged murder of his 16-year-old daughter, a child with Down Syndrome.
This was contained in a press release by Safe Child Africa.
The suspect had earlier alleged that the deceased was a witch and a snake.
Safe Child Africa shared the shocking news about her murder on February 21 and has been working alongside the fearless Basic Rights Counsel Initiative, led by Barr. James Ibor Esq and other local parties to aid the search and support his estranged wife and surviving children.
Safe Child Africa, led by Gary Foxcroft has provided close support and funding to exhume the body of the young girl and carry out an autopsy.
“We will be closely monitoring the case to help ensure that she gets justice”, he said.
Meanwhile, Etim had been on the run and instigated the arrest of his grieving wife, using the Zone 6 Command of the Nigerian Police in Calabar.
