Brig.-Gen. Alexander Tawasimi has assumed duty as the 44th Commander of 2 Brigade Nigerian Army at the brigade headquarters, Mbiokporo Military Cantonment, Nsit Ibom Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State.
This is contained in a statement by Lt. Adebowale Adejimi, the Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations, 2 Brigade, Nigerian Army.
According to the statement, Tawasimi took over from Brig.-Gen. Jafaar Ibrahim, who has since been redeployed.
It added that Brig.-Gen. Alexander Tawasimi officially assumed duty as the 44th Commander, 2 Brigade, Nigerian Army at the Brigade Headquarters, Mbiokporo Military Cantonment, Nsit Ibom on Jan. 29.
“The transition occurred as part of the Nigerian Army’s strategic routine redeployment.
“Before he was appointed Commander 2 Brigade, Brig.-Gen.Alexander Tawasimi served as the Commander 8 Division Garrison in Sokoto.
“As part of the proceedings for the handing and taking over ceremony, the outgoing Commander, Brig.-Gen. Jafaar Ibrahim, inaugurated several significant projects, including the Unknown Soldier Statue,” Adejimi said.
Adejimi also stated that during his farewell, Ibrahim had expressed his gratitude for the support he received throughout his tenure.
He urged all personnel to extend the same support to his successor.
